The Founders

Kevin and Deborah Kingdon

Kevin Kingdon is a computer programmer who has extensive experience in creating new technologies to fill a need. He has several patents which speak to his creativity and ability to think outside the box. He is now using this talent to make LCS a reality. He has spoken extensively on cryptography and software security issues, and loves all things related to math and science. Kevin was raised in rural country school districts. His parents were both music teachers in the country school system. Kevin is an avid reader and has read extensively over the years. Kevin has taught youth and adults in his church for over 20 years. Kevin is currently working on a BA from George Wythe College. It is Kevin's wish to provide an environment where children may reach their highest potential. In 2001 and 2002 Kevin and his wife, Deborah, had the wonderful opportunity of living abroad in Brisbane, Australia. It is there that they truly caught the vision of how they could effect change in the school system. Kevin was extremely impressed by all the educational choices parents had to educate their offspring. He and Deborah are starting Liber Community School in order to give parents some of those choices. Kevin and Deborah have 4 children, have fostered 3 others and now have 3 granddaughters.

Deborah Kingdon has been teaching for as long as she can remember. It started with babysitting in her tween years and went on to her church life and her professional life. Deborah has also been a student her whole life. She is pretty sure she read most, if not all, the books in her elementary school library. Even with this great thirst for learning, Deborah always felt like she had merely survived her school years rather than thriving. School had been such a negative experience it took a full year for her to regain her desire to pursue more education outside of High School. After a year’s break as a nanny to two different families she went on to Ricks College in Idaho and there studied Elementary Education. After 1 ½ years in Europe serving in her church she returned to finish her education at Brigham Young University in Utah. She has had experience in the middle school resource program, extreme developmental delay class of non-verbal children under 7, and she taught at a Montessori school for two years. She met her wonderful husband Kevin while at BYU and they are the proud parents of 2 sons and 2 daughters. Deborah worked on her degree from time to time while being a mom and in 2003 she graduated from George Wythe College with a BA in Statesmanship. Since she first heard about leadership education, Deborah has been a woman on a mission to build young statesmen and women starting with homeschooling 3 out of 4 of her children and continuing to this day at Liber Community School to build young men and women who are self-disciplined, courageous and thoughtful of their fellowmen; who build families and institutions that change the world.
